ORGANIST

Sophie-Véronique Cauchefer-Choplin is an internationally renowned French organist. A graduate of the Paris Conservatoire, she received top prizes in organ, improvisation, harmony, counterpoint, and fugue, and was awarded the French Ministry of Culture Prize in 1980.

She has held the position of titular organist at Saint Jean-Baptiste de la Salle in Paris since 1983, and in 1985 became co-titular organist at the famed Saint-Sulpice Basilica alongside Daniel Roth. In 1990, she became the first woman to win a prize in the prestigious Chartres International Improvisation Competition. Since 2023, she has shared the Saint-Sulpice post with Karol Mossakowski.

Cauchefer-Choplin maintains a busy international concert career, performing in over 30 countries and giving masterclasses around the world. Since 2008, she has been Professor of Organ at the Royal College of Music in London. She is frequently invited to serve on juries at major organ competitions. Her many acclaimed recordings include works by Bach, Mendelssohn, Franck, Messiaen, and others, and her latest CD received the “5 Diapasons” award.
