ORGANIST
German organist and conductor Niklas Jahn belongs to a generation of young artists who continue the rich tradition of the German organ school, combining outstanding interpretation with an exceptional talent for improvisation.
He studied at the Universities of Music in Mainz and Freiburg with renowned professors Hans-Jürgen Kaiser, Gerhard Gnann, Matthias Maierhofer, Vincent Dubois and David Franke. Alongside artistic organ performance, he further specialized in organ improvisation and choral conducting.
He is the recipient of numerous international awards, including First Prizes at competitions in St. Albans, Musashino-Tokyo and Korschenbroich, as well as being a finalist at the Haarlem International Organ Improvisation Competition. He is active as a concert organist, improviser and educator. He has taught at higher music institutions in Saarbrücken, Freiburg and Weimar, and since 2024 has been the organist of the renowned Frauenkirche Dresden.
He enjoys a rich international concert career, and a distinctive feature of his performances is the combination of interpretative excellence and improvisation, through which he presents the organ as a living instrument of limitless expressive possibilities.
